Around 10 percent of the U.S. population will develop a drug use disorder at some point during their lifetimes. However, around 75 percent of them never receive any kind of formal treatment. Alcohol abuse shows very similar trends. While around one-third of the population will meet the criteria for alcohol use disorder at one time or another, only 20 percent of these sufferers ever seek out a treatment program.1,2
Why do so many people who are struggling with alcohol or drug abuse fail to get treatment? There is certainly no shortage of well-qualified rehab centers out there. For many people, it’s not a matter of any unwillingness to take advantage of substance abuse services—it’s a question of finances.
Due to inadequate health insurance coverage—or none at all—many people feel they can’t afford a substance abuse treatment program. As a result, their substance abuse and mental health issues worsen. Read below for some options of rehab without insurance.
It is important to understand that you do have treatment options available to you even if you have no insurance. Many people enter rehab without insurance. Let’s discuss the various costs and payment options that apply to people in this situation.
In the long run, drug and alcohol abuse costs the individual more than any treatment facility.
Persons who are dependent on street drugs sometimes spend more than $100 per day on their habit. Even a legal substance like alcohol can be expensive. In California, a case of beer costs an average of $17.86. Some sufferers of alcohol use disorder go through three cases a week.3
These figures do not even include additional lifestyle costs incurred by people struggling with drug or alcohol addiction. Some sufferers have difficulty maintaining steady employment. Often, they’re chronically late for work, or have to keep taking time off even after running out of PTO hours. Their failure to stay productive as employees can lead to serious financial difficulties.
Over time, drug and alcohol abuse also incurs higher health care expenses as well. Addicts can develop a number of physical and mental complications directly related to their substance abuse. Drug abuse is linked to many health disorders, including gastrointestinal issues, mental health complications, respiratory problems, and kidney damage. Alcoholics are at increased risk of cirrhosis, stroke, pancreatitis, and several types of cancers.
Finally, drug and alcohol abuse often inflicts harm that cannot be calculated in terms of monetary costs. Relationships with friends and family members can become impaired due to the individual’s ongoing issues with substance abuse. In many cases, these interpersonal issues aggravate the individual’s substance abuse.
Although drug and alcohol treatment centers may seem pricey, the help they provide frequently saves the sufferer more money over the long term.
How much it will cost to pay for rehab depends on a variety of factors. Different patients have different needs. Some forms of therapy are more vigorous and time-consuming than others.
At Dedicato Treatment Center, there are three primary drug and alcohol treatment options:
Inpatient, or residential, treatment at Dedicato gives the patient access to a comprehensive recovery program overseen by experienced medical professionals. Patients live on-site during their treatment.
Available programs include cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma therapy, individual and group therapy, and relapse prevention. The patient benefits from one-on-one therapy sessions and a low staff-to-client ratio that ensures personalized attention.
Dedicato offers what is known as an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This is commonly used by individuals who do not need to go through detox. It allows the patient to live at home and travel back and forth to the facility for treatment sessions. Our Intensive Outpatient Program generally lasts eight to twelve weeks.
IOP services at Dedicato include individual counseling, group psychotherapy, 12-step education, and anger management.
Outpatient treatment is significantly less expensive than inpatient treatment, especially if there is no need for detox. However, the type of treatment program that is best for a patient isn’t necessarily the least costly option. Our medical professionals will help the patient determine what kind of therapy is most likely to promote a full recovery.
People without insurance have multiple options when it comes to paying for their stay at our rehab center.
Please note that Dedicato Treatment Center does not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
The staff members at Dedicato Treatment Center believe strongly that no one should be denied access to medical help due to lack of funds.
